NORTHANTS SHOW IN EM UT CHAMPS 2010 Pull Reports (click to View)

There were only three Northants shooters at the EM UT Championships on 11th October at Nuthampstead, but two of them won cups and/or medals. Tony Clayton finished on 86 and took the Veterans Championship, with Chris Ivins coming a respectable 3rd on 81 in the Seniors. The other Northants shooter, Bob Meadows, had never shot UT before but was very happy with his 70, made up of 20, 18, 12 and 20. Must improve the third round score next time!

March - AGM and Fixture Setting

April - Gold Medal and Maintenance

May - New Committee & 50th

June - Economics of Shooting

NORTHANTS AT EM ESK CHAMPS 2010 SPORTRAP Champs

On a very quiet day at Northampton Shooting Ground, Northamptonshire Ladies shooters quietly took all three Ladies awards in the East Midlands Skeet championships. Mo Sentence, Rose Palmer and Bex Lee, took First, Second and Third places respectively for a clean sweep. In the Seniors, Neil Faulkner scored a 98 to take 3rd and Loz Slater a creditable 3rd in the Juniors.

Our congratulations to all the Northants shooters who took part.

Saturday 15th May 2010, saw a beautiful sunny day at Sporting Targets for the Northants and Beds (Combined) Sportrap Championships. 17 Northants shooters braved the four sportrap layouts, which included the legendary quarry towers for a challenging course. In the Seniors, Mark Massey and James Lacey were tied after three layouts, but David Thomas came out of nowhere to beat both Mark and James with 89 ex 100. In the other categories, Rob Franks was the runaway winner in the Vets on 79 and Simon Edwards won both the Juniors and overall C Class on 76. Our thanks to Sporting Targets and look forward to the 22nd May, for the county FITASC at Sporting Targets.

2010 ISSF WORLD CUP - DORSET EAST MIDLANDS 2010 DATES POSTED

I had the pleasure of spending four days at Southern Counties, volunteering at the first ISSF (ex UIT/ISU) World Cup Great Britain has had since 1977. This will be the last World Cup on GB shores until April 2012, when we test out the Olympic layouts. I got a chance to speak to Nicki Brocklesby, our Northants Olympic Skeet shooter, who was shooting for a qualifying score for the Olympics in 2012 Of the 42 elite competitors in the Women's Skeet from around the world, Nikki beat or equalled 19 of them. Our best wishes Nikki, for her continued progress towards 2012 and that elusive MQS.

The Regional dates are also published at this time, although again, subject to HQ change, as required.

For the dates of the Individual East Midlands Regional Individual CPSA Championships, please click <here>, whereas for the Inter County Team events, please click <here>.

Remember, these are again subject to change, but will be updated on the East Midlands Regional CPSA website.

2010 FIXTURES POSTED EAST MIDLANDS 2010 DATES POSTED

The County Fixtures sub-committee congregated at Northampton Shooting Ground on Wednesday 20th January 2010 and completed the ususal 'nightmare' task of juggling National, Regional (individual and Inter County) and Northants county shoots into some sort of patter to all our shoots to clash as little as possible with the rest. To view the proposed dates, please click either <here> or on the Fixtures menu item on the left.

The county AGM has now taken place and minutes will be made available once they have been written up and drafts approved. The main election results are available via the Committee & Meetings link and contain a couple of new faces, which we welcome. Particularly interesting is our new member representing the shooting community with disabilities, Dennis Murphy. Good luck to all the committee for 2010.

NICKI GETS GOLD AT CSF CHAMPS NORTHANTS AND E/M OSK CHAMPS

The Commonwealth Shooting Federation championships have just finished on the new range that has been built for the Commonwealth Games, held later in 2010. Many of you may not know, but Northamptonshire have a shooter Nicki Brocklesby shooting Olympic Skeet for England. With Pinky Le Grelle, Nicki has just won Gold in the Pairs event! Our congratulations are due for a great shoot.

Last year at the Olympic Skeet championships, the running of the event was challenged by a number of shooters. This year Bob Meadows, our own ISSF Judge and British Shooting OSK, OT and DT Referee took charge. Even with a major breakdown, that Pete and Roy handled very professionally, the shooters were very happy with the officiating. In the end, nobody could touch Nicky Brocklesby, on a mission to make her mark. In the end, 91 (the equivalent to an Olympic MQS) won her the championship, with Andrew Lea making a stunning charge with 88 to take runner up.
